Hansen Motorsport, which has operated in the sport for years, has announced that its drivers will not be seen at the Finnish World RX round at KymiRing next weekend. The team’s drivers are brothers Kevin and Timmy Hansen.

As a result of this decision, Hansen Motorsport will miss a World Rallycross Championship round for the first time in over a decade. The team has competed in every World Championship round since 2014.

According to the team, it has faced problems with one of its main partners throughout the season. For financial reasons, the Finnish round will therefore have to be skipped.

It is with regret that we as a team must make this announcement today. We have done everything within our power to get both cars back on track in Finland, however we have simply run out of time to make this possible. It will be difficult, but we will do everything we can to race later in the season.”

“On behalf of the whole family, I’d like to thank our sponsors and fans for their continued support. This gives us the drive to carry on and look forward to a successful 2026 season,” Kenneth Hansen, team principal for Hansen World RX Team, said.

Hansen Motorsport’s decision is also a major blow to the Finnish round, as following the brothers’ withdrawal there will be only five cars on the starting grid in the top class. Next weekend, the fight for victory will be between multiple champion Johan Kristoffersson, Finns Niclas Grönholm and Juha Rytkönen, as well as Klara Andersson and Ole Christian Veiby.

The Hansen brothers’ season in the World RX has been eventful. The team has nevertheless secured three podiums, with Timmy Hansen currently third in the World Championship standings and Kevin Hansen in sixth place. The season finale of the World Rallycross Championship will be held in Istanbul in September.

Kristoffersson leads the championship ahead of the Finnish and Turkish rounds. With Hansen’s team stepping aside, the title battle is now likely to come down to Kristoffersson and Grönholm, with Kristoffersson holding a seven-point advantage over the Finn.
