During a press conference held on Thursday, Kymiring announced that the track, located in Iitti Finland, has signed a long-term 3+2-year agreement with the World Rallycross Championship.
A group of investors led by TRP Hungary acquired Kymiring earlier this year. Now, the track is finally set to host international events.
“Our vision is to develop and maintain Kymiring as the leading motorsport and entertainment centre in the Nordic and Baltic regions, with the World Rallycross Championship playing a key role,” said Kymiring’s CEO, Kornel Öry.
Arne Dirk, Managing Director of the World Rallycross Championship’s Promoter, expressed his excitement about the sport’s growing presence in Finland.
“Finland has a world-famous motorsport culture and a rich history in our sport, which makes our return all the more significant, especially since we haven’t been there since 2020,” Dirk said.
In recent years, Niclas Grönholm has been the only Finnish driver in the top class of the World Rallycross Championship.
“The interest in motorsport in Finland is huge, and next year it will only grow further with the World Rallycross Championship. From what I’ve already seen, the changes at Kymiring look really exciting. I can’t wait to race there in 2025,” Grönholm enthused.
The World Rallycross Championship has signed major agreements this week for the upcoming seasons. On Tuesday, the series announced a three-year deal with the Lousada circuit in Portugal.
