Sordo’s Carrera de Campeones has become an annual event, drawing an impressive line-up of rally stars to the La Roca karting track, owned by the Sordo family.

The headline participant is freshly crowned world champion Thierry Neuville, who secured his first WRC title last weekend in Japan.

Neuville is bringing two of his own rally cars to the track in Cantabria: a rebuilt BMW M3 rally car and his Peugeot 306 Maxi. Sordo also owns a similar BMW, setting the stage for a direct showdown between the teammates in identical vehicles.

Sordo will also showcase more modern machinery at the event, performing for the crowd in a Hyundai i20 WRC car.

The event boasts other high-profile participants, including five-time WRC rally winner Kris Meeke, who will challenge the current WRC stars. Joining them are WRC2 competitor Robert Virves from Estonia and several Spanish drivers.

The festivities kick off with an opening ceremony on Saturday evening, while the main competition will take place on Sunday, with drivers battling it out on the track.

Neuville and Sordo will face off again the following weekend at the Monza Rally Show in Italy, from 6–8 December. That event will also feature Toyota drivers Kalle Rovanperä, Sebastien Ogier, and Sami Pajari, as well as M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux.
