After a short break, Sesks returned to the top class of the World Rally Championship (WRC) in mid-May, driving M-Sport’s Ford Puma Rally1 in Rally Portugal. However, the gravel event did not go entirely to plan for the Latvian, who eventually finished 15th.
This week, Sesks is back behind the wheel of the Ford Rally1 car for Rally Sardinia. From the Mediterranean island, he will then head straight to Poland, where he will compete in the next round of the European Rally Championship (ERC) next week.
Sesks first made his name in the ERC before stepping up to the WRC stages. In 2023, he claimed victory in Rally Poland and also won his home round in Latvia.
Last year, Sesks made a stunning debut in the top class of the WRC – fittingly, in Poland. He therefore knows the fast gravel roads around Mikolajki extremely well.
Next week’s ERC Rally Poland sees the Latvian star competing with backing from tyre manufacturer MRF.
“This company has supported me so much over the years, and I truly owe them a lot. It’s always a great feeling to race on MRF tyres – they’ve been a big part of my journey,” said Sesks.
“Now it’s time to reunite and give it everything in Poland – a rally I’ve always loved,” he added enthusiastically.
In Poland, Sesks will line up as team-mate to Finnish driver Roope Korhonen, who currently leads the ERC standings. Sesks will provide a valuable benchmark for Korhonen, who hopes to follow the Latvian’s path into the top tier of the WRC.
Sesks will tackle the Polish gravel roads in a Skoda Rally2 car. His rivals will include not only Korhonen, but also local ace Mikolaj Marczyk, Norwegian veteran Mads Østberg, Italian Andrea Mabellini, Swedish prospect Isak Reiersen, Northern Irish driver Jon Armstrong, and a host of fast Polish drivers.
ERC Rally Poland will take place from 13–15 June.
