Fourmaux is currently fifth in the drivers’ standings. He has collected a total of 119 points from nine WRC rounds.

Fourmaux is now 49 points behind championship leader Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville, but Toyota’s Elfyn Evans is only 13 points ahead, and Hyundai’s Ott Tänak is 18 points ahead.

Next, the WRC continues in early September in Greece, where Fourmaux will have an excellent starting position for the competition.

“Anything can happen,” Fourmaux told Dirtfish.

“We have really reduced the gap with Elfyn and Ott, so I think everything is possible. We still have a good position for Greece, so maybe we can get some extra points for Greece,” Fourmaux continued.

Fourmaux has driven a very consistent and solid season so far. He has reliably brought the Ford to the finish and driven wisely. The car has also performed well in challenging conditions.

“The car has shown a good pace in Greece. I was comfortable in Sardinia before the alternator issue, so I think we can maybe do something interesting,” Fourmaux predicted.

Last season, Fourmaux regained momentum in his career by competing in the WRC2 category and also drove in the British rally series. He gained valuable experience, and now the Frenchman has demonstrated both with his driving and his words that he is ready to fight for the world championship. In Greece, Fourmaux aims to secure his fifth podium finish of the season. Only eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier has more podium finishes this season.

“I just don’t give up. I know that things can happen and Finland showed that it’s never finished until you cross the finish line,” Fourmaux said.
