It was already known that former WRC stars Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke will compete in the Portuguese rally series this year. As a guest star in the legendary Fafe region, M-Sport Ford driver Martins Sesks will also be taking part this season.

The Latvian will compete in at least six WRC rounds this year in a Rally1 car. His participation in Rallye Serras de Fafe is aimed at preparing for the WRC Rally Portugal in May. Sesks began his season on Sweden’s snowy stages just over a week ago, finishing sixth.

However, in Rallye Serras de Fafe, Sesks will not be driving a top-tier Rally1 car but will instead compete in a Ford Fiesta Rally2. His team for the event will be Past Racing, a familiar outfit for Sesks. Ralfs Igavens will be alongside him in the co-driver’s seat.

“Our team’s goal is clear: to provide Mārtiņš with the opportunity to perfect his pace and skills in preparation for his season with the Rally1,” Past Racing stated on social media.

Sesks will gain valuable experience from Rallye Serras de Fafe, as some of the stages will also be featured in the WRC Rally Portugal.

“Participation in the stages of the Rallye Serras de Fafe, also featured in the WRC of Portugal, is essential for maintaining and enhancing the necessary competition level.”

Rallye Serras de Fafe takes place on 7–8 March.
