Emil Lindholm is a second-generation rally driver, as his father, Sebastian Lindholm, competed for many years in both the World Rally Championship (WRC) and the Finnish Rally Championship (SM-sarja). Emil, who also earned his stripes on the racing circuit, drove his first full rally season in 2015, securing fifth place in the Opel Adam Cup in Germany.
In the 2017 season, Lindholm clinched silver in the SM3 class of the Finnish Rally Championship and was also named the Future Star by the Finnish Motorsport Federation (AKK). From 2018 to 2020, Lindholm competed in the Finnish Rally Championship and participated in international events. He finished second in the premier class of the Finnish Rally Championship in 2018 and 2020 and took bronze in 2019.
The year 2021 was outstanding in Lindholm’s career. He won the Finnish Rally Championship and claimed victories in the WRC3 at Rally Catalunya and Rally Finland. Lindholm also reached the podium in his class at the Croatian and Greek WRC events.
The 2022 season was a real breakthrough year for the driver from Finland, as he won the WRC2 class championship.
Lindholm started the 2023 season with the Toksport team but switched to Hyundai’s development program and the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 car mid-season. However, Lindholm struggled to achieve solid results with his new team, facing retirements in three WRC events.
Emil Lindholm has spent much of the summer and early autumn conducting several so-called roll-out tests with Hyundai’s Rally1 car in Germany.
