The French company was selected after German supplier P1 Performance Fuels entered administration. The opening three rounds of the season were run using fuel provided by P1.

With the change in supplier, the price per litre is also on the rise. TotalEnergies has set the value of its fuel at €8.75 per litre, excluding VAT.

By comparison, P1 charged €6.96 per litre, meaning the price has increased by more than 25 percent.

Teams pre-order their fuel in 50-litre barrels. Rally1 cars, the top class in the championship, consume significant amounts of fuel over a rally weekend. For example, in the season-opening Rally Monte Carlo, P1 estimated fuel consumption at between 460 and 500 litres per car.

At the new, higher price, this equates to over €4,000 worth of fuel per car per rally, excluding VAT. The exact amount consumed can vary depending on the rally.

The remaining WRC rounds this season will all use TotalEnergies fuel. The FIA is currently reviewing bids for the next fuel supply contract, covering the 2026–2028 seasons.

Rally Islas Canarias will take place on the island of Gran Canaria from 24 to 27 April.
