The Latvian driver contested seven WRC rounds last year in M-Sport’s Ford Puma Rally1. He impressed in particular at the season-ending Saudi Arabian round, where he was fighting for victory until the final day. Punctures and technical issues eventually forced him out of the rally.
On Friday, Sesks finally confirmed that he will again contest at least seven WRC events next season. He will once more compete in a Ford Puma Rally1 run by the British M-Sport team.
Sesks will begin his WRC campaign in February at Rally Sweden. After that, his programme will include six gravel events from May onwards: Portugal, Greece, Estonia, Finland, Sardinia and Saudi Arabia.
Sesks’ calendar is identical to last year’s programme. Notably, once again it does not include a single asphalt rally.
Next season, Sesks’ plans will also feature starts in the European Rally Championship as well as selected national rallies in Rally2 machinery. In the ERC, his schedule includes at least the rounds in Sweden and Portugal.
With his versatile programme, Sesks aims to build a strong case for 2027, when the top category regulations in the WRC will change. From that season onwards, the new WRC27 cars will be introduced, but Rally2 cars will also be eligible to compete in the top class.
Sesks made his debut in the WRC’s top category in the 2024 season, immediately delivering sensational pace at the gravel rally in Poland and at his home event in Latvia. Last year, his best result was sixth place at Rally Sweden. At the new Saudi Arabian round, he could even have claimed a rally victory with better luck.
The 2026 World Rally Championship season will get under way next week at Rally Monte Carlo. Rally Sweden will be held from 12 to 15 February.
