The Acropolis Rally of Greece is one of the toughest events of the season. The hot weather and rough gravel roads pose a significant challenge for both drivers and cars.
The WRC stars began their reconnaissance for the Acropolis Rally on Monday. The recce period is spread over three days, from Monday to Wednesday. The recce days are long; for example, on Monday, drivers had 13 hours allocated to go through the stages.
While most WRC stars are hard at work in Greece, reigning world champion Kalle Rovanperä is taking a much more relaxed approach in Estonia. Rovanperä is only competing in about half of the WRC rallies this year, and the Acropolis is not on his schedule.
Rovanperä has still been involved with motor vehicles, but this time on two wheels. On Monday, he posted pictures on Instagram showcasing his skills on a motocross bike.
Reportedly, Rovanperä was enjoying himself near the Lake Männiku, a short distance from Tallinn.

This year, Rovanperä has been sharing duties in Toyota’s third car with Sebastien Ogier. Following the Rally Finland, Ogier announced that he intends to compete in all the remaining events of the season. This allows him to fight for his ninth personal championship and to help Toyota in the battle for the manufacturers’ title.

Rovanperä will still be competing in the WRC this season. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Rovanperä will return to the wheel of a Toyota for the WRC round in Chile at the end of September.
The Acropolis Rally kicks off with the shakedown on Thursday, and the actual competition begins on Friday morning.
