Josh McErlean finished seventh overall in the rally, while Grégoire Munster showed a reasonably promising pace at the beginning of the event.
However, Munster damaged his car already on the fifth special stage, and the rest of the rally was mainly about just bringing the car home for him.
M-Sport team principal Richard Millener nevertheless found more positives than negatives in the weekend.
“It’s been a challenging weekend but one with plenty of positives. Both drivers showed real progress, especially Josh who matched his best-ever result and continues to grow in confidence,” said Millener.
Millener also praised Munster, who displayed good speed especially on Sunday. Munster was eighth in Sunday’s classification and beat his team-mate on that day.
“Grégoire’s pace on Sunday shows what he’s capable of, and the team worked hard to keep both cars running smoothly across three very different countries,” Millener continued.
Only two rallies remain in this season’s World Rally Championship. First comes the event in Japan at the beginning of November, followed by the season finale in Saudi Arabia at the end of the month.
“We’ll take these learnings forward as we prepare for the penultimate round in Japan,” Millener promised.
