Rovanperä will compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia series over the weekend. He will take to the iconic Monza circuit with the Prima Ghinzani Motorsport team’s machinery.
Rovanperä’s weekend at Monza kicks off on Friday with free practice. Saturday morning will feature qualifying, followed by the weekend’s first race in the afternoon. On Sunday, there will be a second race.
The Porsche Cup races have become familiar to Rovanperä this year, as he has successfully competed in the Benelux series during the season. In six races, Rovanperä has claimed two victories.
Prima Ghinzani Motorsport’s drivers haven’t been among the best in Porsche Carrera Cup Italia this season. The team’s top performer in the series is Simone Iaquinta, currently sitting in tenth place.
Rovanperä will have yet another new track to learn over the weekend, although he has raced in the Monza area before. The WRC season ended at Monza during the COVID years of 2020 and 2021, with several special stages held on the circuit’s service roads and also on the track itself.
Rovanperä has plenty of racing ahead of him in the near future, as next week he will compete once again in Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, with the final race weekend taking place at the Zolder circuit in Belgium.
Last weekend, Rovanperä claimed victory in Rally Chile. The Finnish star will skip the upcoming Central European Rally, which takes place in just over two weeks.
