The news surfaced when Tänak unveiled his new helmet design for the 2025 season, which no longer featured the familiar bull logo.
Tänak had worked with the prominent company, which is also a significant backer in the WRC, for two seasons. Red Bull supports several WRC stars, including two-time world champion Kalle Rovanperä and reigning champion Thierry Neuville.
According to Tänak’s spokesperson Henri Rump, the end of the partnership was a straightforward decision.
“In the world of sports, contracts are always for a certain term. Sometimes they are extended, sometimes not. This time, it was decided not to extend the contract,” Rump told the Estonian outlet Delfi.
Tänak’s teammates Neuville and Adrien Fourmaux remain part of Red Bull’s “team.” Among Toyota’s drivers, Rovanperä, Sebastien Ogier, and Takamoto Katsuta continue their partnerships with the energy drink company. Red Bull reportedly invests significant sums in supporting athletes.
Based on promotional photos taken before the season, it appears that Toyota driver Elfyn Evans has also ended his partnership with Red Bull. His helmet no longer features the company’s logo, and he was not wearing a Red Bull-branded cap at the season-opening event last weekend.
It remains unclear whether the decision came from Red Bull, the drivers, or both parties mutually.
Red Bull is a major partner of the M-Sport Ford team for the 2025 season, with the iconic red bulls adorning both the team’s cars and the drivers’ gear.
The World Rally Championship season kicks off on Thursday with the iconic Rally Monte Carlo.
