Fourmaux has been this season’s most pleasant surprise in the World Rally Championship. The Frenchman has managed to claim his career’s first podium finishes in Sweden and Kenya this year.

After the Rally de Portugal, he dropped to fourth in the drivers’ championship standings but once again delivered a steady and strong performance.

His next challenge is the Rally Sardinia at the turn of May and June. Fourmaux’s results from the Mediterranean island in recent years have been disappointing. Last year, he had to retire, as he did the year before.

“We’ve always been competitive in Sardinia,” Fourmaux stated on the WRC’s official website.

“But we’ve never finished in one piece. Or I broke a suspension arm, I broke another suspension arm and I broke another suspension arm,” Fourmaux continued.

“I’ve always been competitive there, but (there have been) mistakes. A small mistake and then it breaks the arm.”

However, the conditions this year are more favorable than in previous years. Fourmaux has been more consistent this season.

“Anyway, the pace is there, I know the stages, and I am more reliable than before. So it should be okay,” Fourmaux anticipated.

In Sardinia, Fourmaux will also benefit from his starting position, which is particularly significant in gravel rallies. He will be the fourth car on the road.
