Ciamin proved his skills in last fall’s Central European Rally, where he celebrated class victory. This season, he competes for his third year in the WRC2 class, and his goals are set high.

The season opener in Monte-Carlo concluded with a fourth-place finish, yet post-race, Ciamin remarked on the lack of performance from Hyundai’s Rally2 car. His next venture is the upcoming Safari Rally next month, a move considered somewhat surprising.

Traditionally, WRC2 drivers have shied away from long-haul rallies due to costs. However, competition in WRC2 class in Kenya is notably less intense compared to European rallies, potentially offering Ciamin a great chance for success.

“I haven’t yet studied the route in detail. I have the impression that it will be more about survival than pure speed. I’ll see if that’s the kind of event that suits me or not,” Ciamin comments on AutoHebdo’s website.

“After our fourth place in WRC2 at Monte-Carlo, our goal will be to finish the event in order to score points.”

Ciamin will soon start his preparations, but the Frenchman has already been inquiring about the Safari Rally from other drivers.

“We have not yet fully immersed ourselves in the preparation, but from what I’ve heard from other drivers, the road surface is in a brutal condition for Rally2 cars. We will have to adopt a different pace than what we are used to in Europe. I can’t say right now whether it will be fun or not, but I am certainly thrilled about participating,” concludes Ciamin.

WRC Safari Rally Kenya is scheduled for the last weekend of March.
