A total of eight crews have registered for the main class of the gravel rally in Sardinia with Rally1 car. Toyota’s star driver Kalle Rovanperä will skip this round. He is only participating in select rallies this year.

Toyota’s driver trio consists of Elfyn Evans, Takamoto Katsuta, and Sebastien Ogier, who this year is sharing the team’s third Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 car with Rovanperä. Hyundai’s driver lineup includes Thierry Neuville, Ott Tänak, and Dani Sordo.

Additionally, in the main class, M-Sport’s drivers Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster will compete in Ford Puma Rally1 cars.

The Rally2 cars once again boast a strong lineup. Participants include Yohan Rossel, Oliver Solberg, Nikolay Gryazin, Pepe Lopez, Sami Pajari, Pierre-Louis Loubet, and Teemu Suninen. However, Solberg and Gryazin will not be competing for WRC2 class points on the Mediterranean island.

This year’s Rally Sardinia features an unusual format. The shakedown will take place on Friday morning, with the first actual special stage scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The competition, hosted in the area around Alghero, will consist of 16 special stages covering a total distance of 266 kilometres. The rally starts on Friday, 31st May, and concludes on Sunday, 2nd June.

This coming weekend, points for the World Rally Championship will be contested in Portugal.
