Now, Lancia, which currently belongs to the Stellantis group, has given its first hint of potential return plans. Lancia is the most successful car manufacturer in WRC history, having won a total of ten titles in the years 1974-76, 1983, and 1987-1992.

The top class of the WRC, currently in a precarious state, desperately needs more car manufacturers, making even a small hint from Lancia about a possible “comeback” a welcome piece of news. The car brand has relaunched its HF (high fidelity) brand, which includes WRC winning cars like the Fulvia, Stratos, and Delta. This rally team was originally founded by Cesare Fiorio in 1963.

During the unveiling of the Lancia HF brand, the brand’s CEO, Luca Napolitano, delivered an encouraging message. He expressed delight over the Race of Glory, a rally movie that narrates the competition between Lancia and Audi.

“After the presentation of the New Lancia Ypsilon, the first car of the brand new era, today we take another step ahead in the path to Renaissance, to emphasise the brand’s most brutal and radical soul and its commitment to focusing on performance models,” Napolitano said.

“Will we return to rally? We are working on it,” Napolitano continued.

The Lancia Ypsilon model belongs to a smaller segment, so it’s unlikely that the brand will directly enter the top class. It’s more probable that the Italian brand will start its project in the Rally4 or Rally3 classes.

However, in the Rally4 class, the Stellantis group, which Lancia is a part of, already competes with two cars, as both the Peugeot 208 and the Opel Corsa are present. In the Rally2 class, competition includes the Citroen, another member of the Stellantis
