The Rally Poland begins on Thursday, and on Tuesday the rally stars began their work with reconnaissance. Toyota’s rally team announced on X that Ogier and co-driver Vincent Landais were involved in a road traffic accident during the reconnaissance.

“Seb and Vincent have been involved in a road accident during reconnaissance for Rally Poland and have been taken for medical checks. We will provide further information in due course,” Toyota’s WRC team reported.

According to local RMF radio, Ogier had a head-on collision with a car on a gravel road. The accident occurred on a hilly section.

Reports indicate that two medical helicopters arrived at the scene, transporting Ogier and the woman driving the other car to the hospital. Landais and a person in the passenger seat of the other car were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

During WRC rally reconnaissance, crews drive all special stages twice and also cover the liaison sections. The reconnaissance is conducted amidst normal traffic, meaning the special stages are not closed to other cars during this time. Competitors must adhere to speed limits during reconnaissance.

Ogier has performed brilliantly this season, winning two out of the four competitions he has entered and finishing second twice. In the championship standings, he is fourth despite skipping two rallies.

Toyota announced on Monday that Ogier will also compete in the next round in Latvia. Toyota will enter the competition with four crews, as Kalle Rovanperä will also return to the driver’s seat in Latvia after his summer break.

The reconnaissance for the Rally Poland is conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday. The competition itself begins on Thursday, with a shakedown in the morning and the opening super special stage in the evening.

A total of 19 special stages will be driven around Mikolajki, covering a total distance of 303 kilometres.
