The previous round was concluded on Sunday in Croatia, but the next rally is just around the corner. As a result, teams have continued their extensive testing this week in Southern Europe.

On Thursday, Hyundai’s Spanish veteran Dani Sordo had the opportunity to get acquainted with his team’s Rally1-class car. Sordo conducted a test day in Portugal, where the next WRC round will also take place in two weeks.

Sordo is set to have a very thorough preparation for the Rally de Portugal, which will be his opening event of the WRC season. This coming weekend, he will compete in a event that is part of the Portuguese Rally Championship, allowing him further testing of Hyundai’s equipment.

Toyota’s driver Sebastien Ogier took his first win of the season at last weekend’s Croatia Rally. The French star returned to “work” on Thursday when he tested Toyota’s Rally1 car in Sardinia.

Toyota is conducting its pre-event tests exceptionally in Sardinia, as the team has decided to simultaneously prepare for both the Portugal and Sardinian gravel events. This strategy allows the team to save on the limited number of test days available throughout the year.

The Rally de Portugal will be held from May 9th to 12th, around the area of Porto.
