Suninen will start his second WRC2 class rally of the season in Sardinia. The rally has suited the Finn well in past years, but this time the challenge will be tougher.

However, Suninen was in a positive mood just before the competition.

“This has always been a good rally for me. We’ve achieved good results here, and I’ve enjoyed it a lot,” Suninen told RallyJournal.com

“This year might be a bit more difficult. It has rained quite a bit on the stages, and some of the gravel has been washed away. Friday might be quite tough. It will certainly test the durability of the car,” Suninen continued.

Suninen, of course, aims to do his best, but achieving a good result in Sardinia would require a perfect performance from the Finn. He admits that he is at a slight disadvantage with Hyundai’s Rally2 car, which is not the most competitive in its class.

“It’s not going to be easy. This season, we’ve seen that no one has been able to achieve very good results with it (the car). We just have to try to do the job well and deliver a similar performance to when I achieved a WRC podium here,” Suninen said, referring to the 2019 Rally Sardinia.

Suninen’s goal, however, is very clear.

“To finish with a good position, and if I could get a trophy, that would be great,” Suninen laughed.
