The season will kick off in early July in Sweden at the Höljes circuit. In total, the calendar features five race weekends, with two rounds being contested on each.

Familiar from the European Championship, Hungary’s Nyirád will host a World Championship round for the first time at the end of July. Points will be fought for in Belgium in August and Portugal in September.

The calendar includes one surprise, as the season’s final race is scheduled to take place in Australia at the turn of November to December. The World Rallycross Championship has never before visited the Australian continent.

Additionally, one more round in Asia is expected to be added to the autumn schedule. Last year, the series made a stop in Hong Kong.

Last year’s World Rallycross Championship season turned out to be quite a flop, as the premier class cars were banned following an incident where Special One Racing’s electric RX1e cars caught fire in the paddock area at England’s Lydden Hill. The incident was subject to a thorough investigation, resulting in the cancellation of three race weekends and the last two being contested with RX2e cars.

This year, the premier class of the World Rallycross Championship will allow competition from both fully electric RX1e machinery and combustion engine RX1 cars.

“We are looking forward to seeing the RX1e cars back in action for the first time since last summer, and curious to discover how they compare against the sustainably-fuelled combustion cars on the grid. As we all know in rallycross, there will be absolutely no quarter given,” says World Rallycross Championship promoter Arne Dirks.

World Rallycross Championship Calendar for the 2024 season:

Sweden, Höljes, 6-7 July
Hungary, Nyirád, 27-28 July
Belgium, Mettet, 17-18 August
Portugal, Montalegre, 7-8 September
Australia, 30 November-1 December
