After Saturday, Tänak is fourth in the rally, and the Estonian can now fully focus on Sunday, where he can still score a good number of points.

Tänak’s Saturday was very challenging. M-Sport’s sensational driver Adrien Fourmaux performed consistently well throughout the day. The gap between Fourmaux and Tänak was 19.9 seconds as they headed into the overnight break.

“Adrian maintained a consistent pace, so we had to keep an eye on him,” Tänak admitted at the end of the day.

“The only thing that limited us was that we were not able to make any different tyre changes for this afternoon, since he was close enough that we couldn’t take any stupid risks with the tyres,” Tänak revealed.

“This afternoon we tried something different. Obviously, nothing really worked, but at least we know now. So, we’ll go back to what we know,” Tänak continued.

Overall, Tänak has had a rather unimpressive season, but on Sundays, he has consistently been strong and grabbed big points from “Super Sunday.”

“We definitely need to push hard tomorrow. The first three stages are obviously in a very high rhythm. I think it will be difficult to really beat them, but still, on many stages, we’ve been at pace with Sebastien (Ogier). Tomorrow we have some different stages, so it might still be interesting,” Tänak predicted.

Tänak candidly admitted that he has still not found a better rhythm and feel with the car.

“No, this afternoon has been worse. So, we’re going back to what we knew from yesterday afternoon,” Tänak said.
