Ogier was involved in an accident on Tuesday during reconnaissance for the Rally Poland. He had a head-on collision with another car coming from the opposite direction on a narrow section of road.

Both Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais, as well as the two individuals in the other car, were taken to the hospital for further examination. Ogier was kept under observation overnight but has now been released.

On Wednesday, Ogier shared a photo of himself and provided an update on his condition. In the photo, taken on what appears to be a private plane, he is seen wearing a neck brace, suggesting he is leaving Poland.

“I had to spend the night in hospital, but I’m already feeling much better,” Ogier reported.

“I’m glad that medical checks showed no serious injuries as well for Vincent and the occupants of the other car. We’re not able to take part in this rally, which is a shame, but the most important is that everyone involved is safe,” the Toyota driver emphasized.

On Tuesday evening, it was confirmed that Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen would replace Ogier and Landais in the fast gravel rally in Poland. Rovanperä and Halttunen arrived at the rally site late on Tuesday and began reconnaissance on Wednesday morning.

Ogier, on the other hand, will follow the rally from home.

“I’m now on my way back home to take some rest and make sure to be back in full strength soon. Good luck to Kalle Rovanperä, Jonne Halttunen, and the whole Toyota Gazoo Racing team, I’ll be cheering for you,” Ogier wrote.

The Rally Poland begins on Thursday. Ogier is scheduled to compete next in the Latvian round of the WRC in mid-July.
