At the moment, only three WRC drivers have confirmed their teams for next season. Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak will continue as Hyundai drivers, while Kalle Rovanperä is set to return as a full-season driver with Toyota.
Currently, three drivers are at the centre of rumours. Speculation has long surrounded Adrien Fourmaux, who has had an impressive season with M-Sport Ford. It is widely believed that Fourmaux will bid farewell to M-Sport at the end of the season and join Hyundai.
There has been no official confirmation from the teams, but it is expected that following the season finale in Japan, it will become clear which team the French driver will represent in 2025.
Two other intriguing names come from the WRC2 class. Oliver Solberg has his sights set on a return to Rally1, and now the Swede has been linked in wild rumours to Toyota’s WRC team.
Previously, Solberg was rumoured to be in talks with M-Sport. However, Italian rally blogger Andrea Gambardella reports that Solberg’s switch to Toyota seems more likely.
Gambardella shares on social media that Solberg could drive Toyota’s Rally2 car in the WRC2 class next season. Additionally, he may secure a few WRC rounds in Toyota’s top-tier Rally1 machinery.
According to Gambardella, this arrangement could open the door for Solberg to secure a full-time WRC driver spot with Toyota in 2026.
Additionally, the Italian reports that WRC2 French star Yohan Rossel is negotiating with M-Sport Ford. M-Sport is in need of new blood, especially if Fourmaux indeed switches to Hyundai.
Rossel has spent recent years driving Citroën’s Rally2 car. The Frenchman has shown clear progress and fought for the WRC2 title until his final points round this season.
Rossel has outlined that his goal is to get behind the wheel of a Rally1 car in the near future.
