Iron Dames announced this week that Sarah Rumeau and co-driver Julie Amblard will take on a full seven-round programme in the WRC2 category of the World Rally Championship in 2025.
Last season, Rumeau, 29, and Amblard, 30, competed in the French tarmac and gravel rally championships with a Ford Fiesta Rally2 car. They achieved fifth place in the tarmac series and sixth in the gravel series.
The 2025 season will see Rumeau and Amblard embark on an extensive competition schedule. They will continue racing on tarmac and gravel in France while making their debut in the World Rally Championship. Neither has competed in the WRC before – not in any category.
Their WRC season kicks off in January with the iconic Rally Monte Carlo. Their calendar also includes the rounds in Portugal, Sardinia, Greece, Finland, Central Europe, and Saudi Arabia.
Iron Dames is collaborating with the experienced French team Sarrazin Motorsport, which will field their cars in rallies. Additional support comes from Citroën Racing, as they will compete with the Citroën C3 Rally2 next year. The French Motorsport Federation (FFSA) is also backing the project.
Rumeau and Amblard will hit the stages this weekend with their Citroën at the traditional Devoluy winter rally in France.
“It’s been an extraordinary year in four-wheel drive, surrounded by people who support us in the best possible way. It gives us a lot of strength to keep giving it our all,” Rumeau enthused.
“So now, we turn our faces toward 2025 with Citroën Racing and a new step forward internationally. It’s a continuing dream with all the team, and I am really proud of this.”
Iron Dames founder Deborah Mayer expressed pride in what Rumeau and Amblard have achieved this year.
“Through their determination and talent, they embody the spirit of the Iron Dames and deserve this extraordinary 2025 programme. To see them follow in the footsteps of such a Grande Dame as Michèle Mouton is particularly moving,” Mayer highlighted.
