The British team announced on Wednesday that Munster will compete in all 14 rounds next year with the Ford Puma Rally1 car.
Munster made his debut in the top category of the WRC in 2023, participating in two events. This year, he completed his first full season driving a top-tier car.
Munster’s best results were three fifth-place finishes in Sardinia, the Central European Rally, and Japan. He finished eighth overall in the championship standings.
Next year, Munster will take on the role of M-Sport’s lead driver. His teammate from this season, Adrien Fourmaux, will drive for Hyundai in 2025.
Munster is aiming to take a significant step forward in his career next season.
“I’m really looking forward to next year and to have the opportunity to drive the Puma again, especially in the good team structure and atmosphere at M-Sport. I’m happy to be continuing with Louis (co-driver Louka) as well, with the aim to continue our progress in the top category, and improving from where we finished in 2024.”
“Of course, that means aiming to break a top five finish with fourth overall, and hopefully eventually some podium places too. I’m excited to see what we can do,” said Munster, who turns 26 on Christmas Eve.
M-Sport has only confirmed Munster’s contract at this stage, but the team has teased more driver announcements for Thursday. According to the team’s statement, Munster will be joined by a “promising newcomer.”
Latvian driver Martiņs Sesks has been heavily linked to M-Sport in recent rumours. Sesks competed in three WRC events with the Ford Puma this year and even contended for a podium spot at his home rally in Latvia.
