Katsuta’s last season was incredibly difficult, with challenges following one after another. At times, Katsuta even found himself “on the bench” due to poor performances.
Towards the end of the season, the Japanese driver managed to improve and once again displayed his best skills. Toyota continued to believe in their driver, and this faith is something Katsuta wants to reward in the upcoming season.
Katsuta has managed to achieve some good results in the WRC at times, but the brightest prize has so far remained elusive.
“Last year my best result was second in Kenya. Now the biggest target is to get the victory. I just need to focus more to be consistent and keep the same good speed. That’s the main goal,” Katsuta says.
A victory would, of course, be nice to achieve, but Katsuta reminded that the first win of his career must not become an obsession.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. I just try to do a good job for the team and myself. I feel quite relaxed and the feeling is good. That’s the most important thing for everybody,” Katsuta tells.
Katsuta would rather not dwell on last season anymore. However, he acknowledges that he received the support he needed when he needed it most.
“Season 2024 was really difficult season for me. I was showing the speed fighting for victory in the beginning of the rallies but then I made a mistake. That was very painful for me. At the same time I felt big support from the team and the people,” Katsuta summarizes.
“It was a big learning year for me, very tough and difficult season, but at the same time, a lot of things to learn, how to manage those conditions and those situations. Definitely, I felt I got stronger than
before. This year is kind of showing here to what I ran through from last year.”
