There’s still plenty to fight for, as Elfyn Evans, currently in second, is closely followed by Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux (+4.3) and Ott Tänak (+6.8). While Sebastien Ogier leads by 20 seconds, his margin is not entirely safe given the unpredictable conditions Monte-Carlo often presents.
“Obviously Ott had incredible pace the whole day really. It´s going to keep things interesting for tomorrow. And of course even to Seb it’s probably a big gap if everything’s straightforward but you never know with this rally,” Evans said.
At one point during Saturday, Evans slipped behind Fourmaux into third place but managed to claw his way back into second.
“Definitely a bit mixed day with tricky conditions. We’ve maybe been a little bit tentative when we’ve not had the confidence, but we’ve then gone quite well when things have been working fine,” Evans reflected.
“Obviously happy to be in the fight. It’s keeping everybody on their toes, I think. And I’m sure it’s it’s good to watch.”
On Sunday, additional points will be awarded to the fastest drivers of the day and the top finishers of the rally-ending Power Stage. Evans has a clear objective.
“I want as many points as we can. That’s ten, I guess.”
