Dani Sordo will be driving Hyundai’s i20 car at Rally Islas Canarias, where he will participate as the zero car.

Rally Islas Canarias is scheduled to take place from May 2nd to 4th. The WRC i20 car is the team’s previous model used in the World Rally Championship before transitioning to the current hybrid cars.

Next year, Rally Islas Canarias will also join the World Rally Championship calendar. The rally has secured a place in the WRC schedule for 2025 and 2026.

Sordo has only competed in Rally Islas Canarias once before, back in 2005, driving a Citroen C2 car. That year, Sordo clinched the Junior World Rally Championship title and the Spanish Rally Championship.

At 40, Sordo is still active in the WRC. So far this season, he has participated in just one rally in Spain.

In March, Sordo entered the Rallysprint de Panes, winning the overall competition in a BMW M3.

Although there were expectations that Sordo might retire, he continues with Hyundai, participating in selected events with the team’s third car. Hyundai’s full-season drivers are Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak, with Esapekka Lappi, Sordo, and Andreas Mikkelsen sharing the third car.
