Lappi had to retire from the Kenyan Safari Rally on Friday when his Hyundai’s gearbox exploded. On Saturday, he then faced adversities with wildlife on the savannah.

Sunday morning did not go much better for Lappi. A technical issue struck his car on the final stage of the morning, forcing him to slow down.

The Finn could only curse his numerous issues during the last service break.

“It’s really hard to find anything positive. It just goes from bad to worse. Really shitty,” Lappi cursed.

Lappi still has a chance to grab points from the Power Stage, but his motivation was not particularly high.

“I don’t know what the point is anymore. I don’t know what we should do. Can we even fix the car?”

“I didn’t even look to see what’s wrong. I guess the rear diff is broken. I could use a drink now. Hopefully, it’s something other than water,” Lappi said, taking a sip from his drink bottle.

Eventually, Lappi managed to leave the service five minutes late for the last loop of three special stages of the competition.
