Lappi last won six years ago in Rally Finland in 2017, and now he has achieved his second top position.

There could have been more victories if only co-driver Janne Ferm had had his so-called equipment in order earlier.

“I have one point here. He wore glasses for the first time in this rally, so for the first time ever, I got all the notes,” Lappi joked.

“Until now, I’ve just been guessing,” Ferm laughed.

Lappi’s victory ultimately came with nearly a half-minute margin over Toyota’s Elfyn Evans. However, Sweden’s snowbanks took their toll, and the possibility of crashing was always present.

“In rally, the line between victory and total defeat is just drawn in water,” Ferm admitted.

Lappi and Ferm had to just secure their win for over a day after Toyota’s Takamoto Katsuta crashed out on Saturday morning.

“Those were really long 26 hours,” Ferm laughed.
