Finally, one might say. The last time Lappi had won was in Jyväskylä in 2017.
After a six-and-a-half-year wait, victory came in Umeå. Lappi drove convincingly in the challenging snow rally and ascended to the top step of the podium.
Lappi himself felt that the second win didn’t feel as good as the first. But has co-driver Janne Ferm noticed any change in Lappi after the second career victory?
“We were in a small group after the win. It was probably a big deal for everyone,” Ferm told RallyJournal.com.
“However, it’s important to remember that it was just one rally, and now we’re moving on to new ones. The good feeling persists, but the sun always rises the next morning, no matter what happens.”
“It was a big deal for all of us close to him and for Esapekka himself,” Ferm continued.
The first is always the first. The feeling of the first win can’t be replicated in any way.
“The first one is always the first. That’s how it goes in all aspects. The first is always the first, and the rest follow,” Ferm laughed.
