The stewards imposed a fine on Järveoja for an incident during the first special stage on Saturday morning. Järveoja broke the rules by unfastening his helmet strap between the flying finish and stop point of the stage.

According to the regulations, both members of the crew must keep all their safety equipment properly fastened until they reach the time control. After that, they may, for example, remove their helmets or loosen their seatbelts.

Järveoja has been fined €400 for the rule infringement.

The opening stage on Saturday was almost a nightmare for Tänak and Järveoja. The pair suffered two punctures on their Hyundai, causing them to drop from the lead to fourth place in the Acropolis Rally.

Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville leads the competition ahead of his teammate Dani Sordo, while Toyota’s Sebastien Ogier is in third.

On Saturday, the rally will continue with a short super special stage late in the evening. The Acropolis Rally concludes on Sunday.
