Korhola, 20, has made the jump this season to the main class of the Finnish Rally Championship in a Hyundai i20 N Rally2 car. During the winter season’s three events, he secured two podium finishes, placing him second in the SM1 class points as the summer season approaches.

The Finnish Rally Championship is currently on a break, which Korhola plans to use to gain rally experience abroad. Next week, he will participate in the Rally Regione Piemonte, which is held on asphalt.

The event, organized around the city of Alba, consists of ten special stages, totaling 112 kilometers. Korhola will enter the event with co-driver Samu Vaaleri.

For his second asphalt event, Korhola will be driving the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 car from the Italian GB Motors team.

“It’s great to go to Italy to race on asphalt. Asphalt is, of course, a surface I don’t have much experience with, so this Italian event is a very good addition to the competition calendar,” Korhola says.

The competition level in the Italian Rally Championship on asphalt is high. The season’s opening event was won by Andrea Crugnola, who has experience at the WRC and ERC levels.

“The goal is just to gain as much learning and experience as possible on asphalt. I don’t have high expectations in terms of results. The most important thing is to finish the event without any issues.”

Korhola’s rally journey will continue after the event in Piemonte.

“After Italy, we head to Croatia, where we will just make the pace notes for the future. That’s also really valuable learning,” Korhola adds.
