Ukrainian co-driver Volodymyr Korsia is a familiar name in the World Rally Championship. Between 2013 and 2021, he participated in a total of 35 WRC events, reading notes for his compatriot Valeriy Gorban and Estonian driver Georg Linnamäe.

Korsia last competed on WRC stages at the 2021 Arctic Rally Finland. During that same season, he also took part in several smaller rallies, but his rally career had to be put on hold due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Linnamäe expressed his support for his friend and former trusted co-driver in an Instagram story.

“This is a story I was hoping I never have to make. Recently, my old co-driver and good friend Volodymyr was severely wounded in battle while fighting for his home country. Thankfully, he is alive and his condition is stable but there’s a long recovery ahead,” Linnamäe wrote.

“I wish my friend a speedy recovery and strength to the people of Ukraine in their fight against foreign oppression.”

In his own update, Korsia shared that he was injured while on a combat mission in southern Ukraine. He has undergone several surgeries, but his condition remains stable.

“I want to express my gratitude to my comrades, the entire battalion leadership, and the medical staff for their timely evacuation and care,” the 31-year-old Korsia stated.
