Ogier was involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming car during the recce. He spent the following night in the hospital under observation and ultimately had to withdraw from Rally Poland.

Ogier flew home from Poland the next day before the competition began. He posted a photo of himself from the airplane wearing a neck brace.

Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala told RallyJournal.com after Rally Poland that Ogier would still undergo a medical examination at home. The purpose of the examination was to determine if Toyota’s French star could participate in Rally Latvia, which is scheduled for next week.

Toyota has not since provided an update on Ogier’s condition, but it now strongly appears that he is fit to compete. Ogier is present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, which started on Thursday.

Ogier was in action during the day, but this time in the co-driver’s seat. At the wheel of Toyota’s hydrogen-powered GR Yaris H2 was the famous comedian Rowan Atkinson, best known for his character Mr. Bean.

“It was a bit unusual, but it was a good experience, and we took it steady today,” Ogier reported in the event’s live stream.

In addition to Ogier, Toyota drivers Kalle Rovanperä and Elfyn Evans, as well as team boss Latvala, are also participating in the event.

The fast gravel rally in Latvia will be held from 18-21 July. Ogier will also compete in Rally Finland at the beginning of August, where Toyota will field no less than five Rally1 cars.
