Rovanperä shared on social media that he and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen have arrived in Portugal, where the next WRC round will be held in mid-May.
On Tuesday, Rovanperä posted a picture on Instagram Stories, confirming that the duo had reached the venue. The picture also shows the car in Toyota’s new “summer livery.” In the following pictures and videos, the pair are already busy testing.
Earlier, Rovanperä had reported running into trouble at Madrid airport due to power outages that had plagued Spain and, partly, Portugal.
Rovanperä even asked his followers for help when in serious trouble. He enquired whether anyone could lend them a car so that the duo could continue their journey.
Toyota and Rovanperä are now conducting tests in Portugal ahead of the next WRC round, Rally Portugal, which will take place in mid-May.
Last weekend, Rovanperä secured his first victory of the season by winning Rally Islas Canarias in dominant fashion. Rovanperä also climbed from sixth to second in the drivers’ standings and is now 43 points behind his team-mate Elfyn Evans, who leads the championship.
