The season climaxed at the final round in Japan, where both the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships were decided. The script was near perfection, with the outcomes determined in the very last moments.
Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville secured his first-ever world championship on the final day of the Japanese asphalt rally, after his teammate Ott Tänak crashed out.
Tänak’s exit had dramatic consequences for the manufacturers’ championship as well. It opened the door for Toyota, which seized the opportunity and clinched the title during the Power Stage that wrapped up the rally.
