Latvala participated in the Fuji 24 Hours endurance race, part of Japan’s Super Taikyu series, which took place on Saturday and Sunday. Latvala raced alongside Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda.

The team represented by Toyoda and Latvala used a hydrogen-powered Toyota GR Corolla H2 concept car, competing in the ST-Q class for unclassified concept cars.

The crew consisted of six drivers. During the 24-hour race, Latvala drove two different stints, completing a total of 93 laps. In the end, Latvala completed nearly one-third of the team’s total laps, as the team managed to drive 332 laps with the hydrogen car over 24 hours.

The result was modest compared to the leaders, as the winning team completed 773 laps in 24 hours, more than double the laps of Latvala’s team. The winning team in the ST-Q class completed 715 laps.

The Toyota GR Corolla H2 team finished last in their class, but six other cars finished behind them in the overall standings.

This was Latvala’s third time participating in the Fuji 24 Hours race. Last year, the team driving Toyota’s hydrogen car achieved a slightly better result with a total of 358 laps.

Latvala has a busy schedule ahead, as the next round of the WRC takes place in Sardinia this coming weekend. Latvala now faces a journey from Japan to the Mediterranean island, where the event starts on Friday.
