Evans revealed at the beginning of December that he had fallen off his bike and injured his ribs.

Because of this, the British driver missed the FIA’s award gala and the winter tests in Central Finland. However, Toyota updated the situation of their star driver on Thursday.

Toyota firmly believes that Evans will be able to participate in the Monte Carlo tests in January and compete in the race itself as usual.

“Things are looking good now. Elfyn has seen a doctor, and the doctor is confident that we are still on schedule regarding the tests” Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala told Dirtfish.

” We haven’t changed anything in his testing schedule. I don’t remember the exact dates, but they start somewhere around the middle of January” Latvala continued.

Toyota conducted winter tests in Central Finland last week. However, Evans was not yet fit enough to join.

“He was supposed to be with us last week, but he couldn’t make it. That was okay. “Taka” (Takamoto Katsuta) drove for two days, and the idea was that the drivers get back into winter conditions before the Rally Sweden” Latvala said.

Evans is known as an avid mountain biker. The accident initially alarmed the Toyota team.

” When we first heard about it (the accident), we were obviously worried and started thinking about a contingency plan. But when he returned to Britain, everything looked and still looks good” Latvala outlined.

The opening round of the 2024 World Rally Championship season, the Monte Carlo World Rally, will be raced from January 25th to 28th.
