On April 13th, Verstappen will make his debut in the British Rally Championship, participating in the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages in Wales with his Belgian co-driver Renaud Jamoul. This marks Verstappen’s first gravel rally competition.

The challenge ahead of Verstappen is formidable, featuring several special stages known from the Wales Rally GB.

Verstappen will test his skills on renowned stages such as Sweet Lamb, Myherin, and Hafren with a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 car.

Jos Verstappen started his rally career in 2022, mainly competing in the Belgian national rally series, but he also has one WRC start in Belgium from 2022.

“We are very happy to come to Wales and the British Rally Championship,” Verstappen said.

“Renaud has done Wales Rally GB several times but for me, these stages will be the first,” Verstappen continued.

“After two test sessions in the wintertime in the south of France, we have decided to do our first proper gravel rally and as Renaud has some really good memories in Wales, this rally was looking like the best one to start with.”

According to Callum Black, a long-time competitor in the British Rally Championship, Verstappen should be cautious. Wales presents quite a challenge for a first-time gravel rally participant.

“The stages are certainly technical in places, so it’s a challenge for a gravel debut, but you’d say it’s a good choice based on enjoyment,” Black commented.
