The World Champion Rovanperä is set for a lighter season in the World Rally Championship, yet the Finnish driver remains busy behind the wheel.
Rovanperä had previously confirmed his participation this year in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux series on the circuit. In addition, Rovanperä will compete in the 24-hour endurance race in Fuji, Japan, towards the end of May.
On Thursday, Rovanperä confirmed that he will also be seen in drifting competitions. He plans to race in selected events of the Formula Drift Japan.
“I’m really excited to announce that I will be driving again this year in some events of the Formula Drift Japan championship. For the first time, you will see me in Fuji,” Rovanperä shared.
The Fuji round is scheduled for 6-7 April. A week prior, Rovanperä will compete in a World Rally Championship round in Kenya.
Last year, Rovanperä participated in two Formula Drift competitions in Japan. He clinched victory at the Ebisu circuit in May and finished second in the season finale in Okayama. This year, Rovanperä will again compete in Japan with Cusco Racing’s Toyota GR Corolla.
Rovanperä’s schedule for this year may include yet another series, as he might also compete in the Drift Masters European Championship (DMEC) during the season. The third round of the DMEC season is set to take place in Finland in early July.
