Rovanperä won’t all the events next year. It’s certain that Rovanperä will not be competing in the season-opening Rally Monte Carlo. It’s assumed that instead, the Finnish star will compete in Rally Sweden in February, although he has not fully confirmed this either.

On Thursday evening, Rovanperä and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen’s WRC championship was celebrated in Jyväskylä, Finland. In front of the home crowd, Rovanperä made a promise that he will be seen at Rally Finland next year.

“I can say that it’s certainly the plan. Of course, we want to come here to compete,” Rovanperä stated, receiving huge applause from the audience.

Rovanperä already has two titles under his belt, but he has never conquered his home event, Rally Finland in Jyväskylä. Last August, Rovanperä was in excellent form at his home event, but he rolled his car from the lead and had to retire.

Winning the fast gravel race would be a fantastic addition to Rovanperä’s resume, but for the driver, it would be just another win among others.

“For me personally, it hasn’t been the most important thing. I want to win every event I start,” Rovanperä reflected.

“But now that I have two championships and good results from elsewhere, of course, it would be nice to win at home too. That’s the next goal,” he added.

Moreover, Rovanperä plans to continue celebrating WRC championships in his hometown in the future.

“Hopefully, we’ll see each other in this context again sometime. Maybe not next year, but hopefully after that.”
