The Finnish star has had a challenging start to the season. His campaign opened with a solid fourth place in Rally Monte Carlo, but in Sweden, he finished only fifth. The WRC season now continues in Kenya with the legendary Safari Rally, an event where Rovanperä has traditionally performed exceptionally well.

Rovanperä has won the rally twice, in 2022 and 2023. His clear goal is to secure another victory in Africa and get his season back on the right track.

“It hasn’t been the easiest start to the season, but we’re not too far from the fight. Now when we’re going to gravel, we have a new chance to start push harder and get back in the fight,” Rovanperä says.

“All our drivers and the team has been really good. Now we just need to get all the pieces together on our end.”

Toyota has been testing in Southern Europe to prepare for the Kenyan WRC round. Teams are not allowed to test in the host country for long-haul events, so they must find alternative locations to get a feel for the conditions.
