Kalle Rovanperä’s co-driver reveals: Noticed a significant change in the champion’s demeanour

Rovanperä’s decision has given him more free time and, on the other hand, the opportunity to try his hand at other forms of motorsport.

It was reported on Friday that Rovanperä will participate in the Porsche Carrera Cup racing series in 2024.

Rovanperä and his co-driver Jonne Halttunen will kick off their season in the World Rally Championship next week by participating in Rally Sweden. According to Halttunen, the lighter calendar has been a rather pleasant experience so far.

“It’s quite holistic. When you’re not racing a full season, it’s essentially on a rally-to-rally basis. There’s nothing to ponder in between. Of course, preparation for the rallies is necessary, but when you race the entire season, the stress is so comprehensive,” Halttunen told RallyJournal.com.

“I can’t really explain it myself, as I’ve never been in this situation before. It’s quite relaxed. I’m heading straight from Sweden to Thailand for a few weeks, and then we’ll look at the next rallies,” Halttunen revealed.

“It’s quite a comfortable gig,” he added.

Has Kalle Rovanperä’s demeanour changed with the lighter programme?

“Indeed. We talked about it among ourselves. Now that both of us are in such a relaxed state, you notice it more in your free time. You don’t stress as much or get as tense. When you’re not under pressure, you can see it, and I notice it in myself too,” Halttunen shared.

Rovanperä and Halttunen are not practically racing for the championship this season, but the goal for each rally is still quite clear.

“If you ask me, we’re aiming to win all the rallies. It’s that simple. It’s nothing more complex than that,” Halttunen chuckled with optimism.
