Martins Sesks sets his sights on challenging for the European Rally Championship title with a new car, as he steps into the cockpit of Toyota’s newly launched Rally2 car.

However, the goal remains the same for the Latvian, aiming to clinch the ERC title.

The Junior European Champion previously competed in a Skoda. He continues with Renars Francis as his co-driver and Sports Racing Technologies team.

Last year, Sesks enjoyed success in the ERC, battling for the championship until the end against Hayden Paddon, but ultimately Paddon emerged victorious in the title fight.

“Last year, we enjoyed a successful ERC season, securing the position of vice-champions,” Sesks reflected according to the FIA European Rally Championship official website.

“However, as we advance in the ERC, we must embrace growth and new challenges, too,” continued Sesks.

The competition in the European Rally Championship is intensifying as the series welcomes new participants from the WRC.

“As competition intensifies daily with the inclusion of WRC drivers switching to ERC, our participation demands maximum development. This is facilitated by Sports Racing Technologies’ expertise in working with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2,” the Latvian remarked.

This season, the ERC has added new events, increasing the level of challenge.

“Naturally, there will be a learning curve as the team familiarises itself with the new car, and we anticipate additional challenges, such as increased Tarmac stages throughout the season. With only three stages on gravel and three rallies entirely new to us, we acknowledge our lack of experience. Nevertheless, we are committed to thorough preparation and hard work to ensure a strong season, continually learning and evolving along the way,” Sesks anticipated.
