Among the team’s drivers, especially Gregoire Munster is quite the novice in snow conditions with a top-tier car. Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux also lacks significant experience in winter conditions.
However, team principal Richard Millener is cautiously optimistic. The team boss is hoping for patience from his drivers, as taking it slow can still yield decent results in the WRC.
“I have no doubt that the team and drivers will be able to replicate a similar performance to that on Monte-Carlo, so I am very excited to see what we can do,” Millener says.
In Monte Carlo, Fourmaux finished in fifth place. Munster was also performing well but ended his run due to a slip on the 12th special stage while in sixth position.
“We have had another great test with each crew completing over 200 km per day, the test team really did a fantastic job to give our drivers the best footing heading out to Sweden,” Millener emphasises.
Millener himself will not be able to travel to Rally Sweden as his wife, Anna Louise Rudd, is in the late stages of pregnancy. The due date for the couple’s second son coincides with the rally.
“It’s difficult for me as I’ll have to watch the race from Britain. It’s because the due date for our second child is right during the race,” Millener confirms.
“Although I won’t be there, I am sure my replacement, a certain Malcolm Wilson, will be more than capable of looking after things,” Millener continues, referring to the head of M-Sport.
Rally Sweden kicks off with a shakedown on Thursday morning. The race, starting from Umeå on Thursday evening, features a total of 18 special stages, covering approximately 300 kilometres.
