Esapekka Lappi ended a six-and-a-half-year winless streak last weekend when he clinched first place at Rally Sweden. Lappi’s first World Rally Championship event victory had come in Finland in the summer of 2017.
Hyundai has aptly titled the video: 2,394 days later. That’s how much time had elapsed since Lappi and Ferm’s last top spot.
Towards the end of the video, we see Lappi finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
“Amazing. So relieved. It feels that all the excitement is going away now and you start to shake,” Lappi describes his feelings before the award ceremony.
Shortly after, Hyundai’s Belgian star Thierry Neuville offers his congratulations to his Finnish teammate.
“Well done! That’s a proper comeback!”
Eventually, Lappi and Ferm get to celebrate their victory in a quintessentially Finnish way, where no words are needed.
Hyundai has invested in its media team this year, which is evident in the team’s latest production.
