Thierry Neuville won the gruelling gravel event, which ended on Sunday, and made a major leap towards his first World Rally Championship title.

Hyundai secured the entire podium in Greece. Spanish veteran Dani Sordo finished second, and Estonia’s Ott Tänak came third.

However, Tänak was a frustrated man. His chances of winning the championship are effectively over, but he was still happy for the team.

“It’s a frustrating weekend. obviously it was going to be anyway quite a lottery this weekend,” Tänak said, referring to the tough conditions.

“Team wise, I would say in the end we pulled out very strongly. Great weekend for the team and for the guys. And obviously they can be very proud of themselves seeing how much again around has been happening. And like two years ago one of the toughest rally. And to come up on top this is great for them for sure,” Tänak added.

Tänak reached an impressive milestone in Greece. The podium finish marked the 50th of his career, a notable achievement for the 2019 world champion. However, Tänak had no interest in discussing the milestone. When asked if it was something he could look back on with pride in the future, his response was icy.

“Let’s see them when we are looking back,” Tänak replied curtly.
