Chile hosted its first WRC round in the 2019 season. For the next three years, it was absent but returned to the calendar last season.

The WRC Promoter has not yet published the calendar for next season, but it is already certain that Chile will be part of the WRC in 2025. The Chilean organisers have even bigger plans for the future.

The local government of Biobio has submitted an application to the FIA to host the WRC rally in 2025 and 2026.

Felipe Horta, director of the Rally Chile, is pleased that the local government wants to keep the WRC caravan heading to the Pacific coast in the coming years.

“This commitment fills us with joy and reaffirms the success achieved in the previous occasions when this world championship was organised in our country, specifically in the Biobío region. Thanks to this event, the region has become a global leader,” Horta told local Radio Bio Bio.

Next year, two WRC rallies will be held in South America, as Paraguay will host a round for the first time. The events will be held consecutively to avoid teams having to transport their equipment back and forth between Europe and South America.

This season, the WRC points will be contested in Chile at the end of September.
